ABOUT

Lentil Purbrick (she/her) is an Australian writer and practitioner.

She is an award-winning creative, sustainability educator, co-author of two books, Grown & Gathered (2016) and The Village (2018) and co-founder of two impact-led companies: @grownandgathered and @minimumwines.

Lentil’s two books provide timely cultural education on topics such as sustainable living, application of trade/bartering systems in day-to-day modern life and the integration of other forms of traditional wisdom. She has been a Keynote guest speaker at both Creative Mornings (2016) and the annual Creative Business Summit (2023), Melbourne, Australia and has been a guest writer for magazines such as Dumbo Feather and the ABC. Her work in these fields has received awards such as the Banksia Sustainable Communities Award (2015), the Readings Best Book Award (2016) and the ABDA Best Illustrated Book Award (2016).

Lentil’s work is grounded in lived experiences and these early experiences in her career deeply inform her practice today, in which she has turned her education and deep observational skills to poetry and coaching to better understand human culture and ways of being in the world.

Lentil’s early work was an exploration of day-to-day life within various cultures and ways of being in the world, posing questions such as what impact one’s surroundings has on one’s lived experience of Self and exploring the psychology of meaning-making in our lives.

Today, her practice poses questions about the psychology of space, lineage, time, memory, body and Self.

Most people call her Leni and she has travelled to expand her emotional understanding of the world (to understand how the world “speaks”) and currently lives in Berlin, Germany.

She works as an Integration Coach for individuals and organisations such as the Humanitarian Coaching Network. Leni identifies as a woman living with a disability (cancer) and her goal is to continue to expand and deepen her written practice and work as a practitioner by ways of exploration into questions of human culture and psychology.
